It’s a modest goal. 100,000 steps is well within my realm and I’ve certainly surpassed it on several occasions. But, this week is a bit unique and the real goal is to take advantage of the bits and pieces of free time I will have over the coming seven days.
It’s the first full week of summer vacation for the kids. We will be spending a few days at our trailer on Pigeon Lake near Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada. The week will be filled with physical activity. My goal is to have the focus to be able to fit in the required steps.
It’s seems trivial. Why not focus on more demanding challenges and goals? Well, for one, this is still pretty demanding. This works out to between 14,000 and 15,000 steps per day. That number is on top of swimming, kayaking, biking, paddleboarding, etc.
The other reason to focus on steps is that when the body is stiff, tired and sore, you can (almost) always walk. Very, very seldom do you go down with an injury from walking. It’s not running but the benefits are there – especially for us folks over 50. Also, when I walk, it’s usually not that leisurely. I’m usually checking to make sure the heart rate is in that zone 2 region.
Throughout the week, I’ll be updating my progress through the In Pursuit Of Facebook Page. Next Monday, I’ll go through the results.
